Fort Mifflin Oct 7^th 1797 Sir Inclosed you have the amount of the pieces of Live Oak, used in this place agreable to your request of the 4^th instant, you have also inclosed the Copy of my answer to the Secretary's letter which you forwarded to me — The Carpenters all agree that there is no measurement for those pieces, the place they are contended for sufficiently express their value — with due respect To Tench Frances Return of Sundry pieces of Live Oak taken by order of Major Lewis Tousard to Mount the guns at Fort Mifflin — 8 Lower Futtocks 3 Third Futtocks 5 Small partners of 8 feet length I certify that no other pieces of Live Oak deposited at this Fort but the number mentioned, have been used, and that none were taken by the Workmen without order —
