may say as such, from that time to the end of the War that the appoint-
ments of aids on the first Years of the War was made by the Major Generals
themselves, and the Rank granted to them by the [undecipherable] of June
the 3d 1779 - appears never to have been confirmed by any [undecipherable]

therefore I humbly of opinion that considering the Nature of the [undecipherable]
some appointment at the time of his Leaving the General family,
his entering into a nother Service, his then being supplied by C Patterson,
and his never Returning to his former Station, that he must be classed
as out of the Service at the from 1779, and is not entitled to any benefits
or appointments that were granted the aids and the officers of the
Line after that Period, all which is humbly Submitted
