In the Letter which I did myself the Honor to write to the Board on the 2d Instant I informed the Board that Mr Clay man had the Money which I there referred to was lodged in Mr Alexanders hands for him and that therefore it was his neglect that he did not recieve it for the use of the Public. but having since examined more minutely into Mr Clays Letters & Actions, I find that he has not only received this money from Mr Alexander but Acknowledges in express terms that he Considers himself accountable for it. I therefore take the Liberty to Inclose a Copy of his Letter to me dated August 3d 1781. and an Extract from his Returns dated 31st of the same month from which I have Obtained this information.
