After writing by M^r Williams, being at Newburgh the Bearer M^r Joshua Arden made application to purchase the [undecipherable] Iron Ordnance at West Point, for which he has offered [undecipherable] pounds per Ton delivered at the Landing, who will [strikethrough: take the] not take them on the Spot — you will see by M^r Williams Letter the places where the Guns are I am Sir & The Honorable Major Gen^l Knox Secretary at War — Sir West Point Sept^r 6^th 1787 Since my writing by M^r Williams about the Old Cannon A M^r Joshua Arden has made application, to whom I have given a Letter addressed to you upon the subject — & he has offered twenty Shillings per Ton more for the Guns.
