[187.] New York August 2^d 1787 Sir I have this day received a letter from M^r. [undecipherable] from whom he says "Doctor Bond has requested my attention to a claim of Doctor David Gould, I find a Gould is charged with £ 2500 received by him from the State as Paymaster to the 2^d Virginia State Reg^t in March 1775 and the same is deducted from his acc^ts the balance I have remitted to Doctor Bond in bills of exchange on Philadelphia if he is not there will you inform M^r.
