Dear Sir
I intended to have waited on you from here having [undecipherable] but I was disappointed — I have since my return received a Copy of the Balance of your account [undecipherable] depreciation settled with Mr Milligan and also [undecipherable] with the State by which it appears that your Pay and Rations have been twice drawn from December 10th 1778 to January 1st 1782 the the table has been at different prices but in the whole brings you considerably in debt to the United States or the State of Virginia — I am convinced the error arose from a supposition that the account settled with Milligan was for your rations which was not the case as appears by an exact copy of it I have now enclosed you — a copy also of your depreciation account settled with this State I also inclose you and am with esteem &
