Philadelphia Jan 2d 1787—
Dear Sir,
Your letter of the 18th inst. was received this morning; enclosed is a furlong from Doctor Basman which you will read, and I believe you will have to regret the propriety of his being here at the time if he cannot come on account of having any other carrier let me know— The [?], he may be here as I know nothing of his having circumstances to enable me to present, any the knowledge of the Certificates being altered— the person who hazed them I am an utter Stranger to — I wish you to attend Mr. Pierce's wish in having the auditors papers once more arranged, Mr. Hubbard will see to the Expetor works, but don't let the letters to be handmailed as it may hurt the account —
The claims of [undecipherable] Kirby will have to be referred to Congress. I recollect the claim and am afficient that he must consider himself resigned or deranged 1783
