M. Pierce informed me some time ago that M. Howell was taken dangerously ill and that you were gone to Phil. on that account. I hope my Dear Sir that he has recovered and that you are now happy in the prospect of her continuing in health. I wrote to the Board of Treasury agreeably to your request and I hope that you have been favored with the appointment —
Captain Erasmus Gill Hinde has drawn his pay & depreciation from this State to the first of January 1782 he says he has not drawn it from Pennsylvania. I think however that you said he had. I wish therefore to know precisely what he has drawn, that if he has been guilty, it may be known, and if not that his Character may stand fair, he has a good Character and is much beloved by his acquaintance — I am &c
