Sir,
Your company and that of Cap. Savage are to be posted at Springfield for the sole purpose of protecting the arsenal
You will preserve the highest discipline and prev[ent] the least abuse to the persons, or properties of the inhabitants
You will forward regularly monthly returns to this office, and communicate every thing to this office respecting your troops & to the public interests which you are to protect.
You will afford such assistance of men for airing the powder, removal or disposition of the stores at Springfield, as Cap. Bement the Commissary shall require —
I have forwarded by Major North 493 dollars, in order to compleat one months pay to the two companies —
Major North has also my orders to inspect & muster the two companies.
