[162.] Philadelphia June 1^st 1797 Dear Sir M^r Greenfield a Gentleman of my [undecipherable: acquaintance] in consequence of this City has informed me that he lodged a letter to me about two weeks ago relative to the Claim of Joseph Bradfield for two Barels taken from him in the year 1777 the necessary papers to this Claim were enclosed in the letter — the Claim was presented to M^r McElhone, who, after a detention of forwarded [strikethrough: this one] to his Office as you have not mentioned the receipt of this letter I beg you will apply to the Post Office for it & procure it, if the ledger I am informed is paid and then present it to M^r Howell for Liquidation of any objection should arise the papers may be left until my return — I am in haste Yours M^r Cobb Swann J.
