Philadelphia June 3^d 1787— Dear Sir Your favor of the 25^th Ult^o with a copy of M^r Pierce's letter was received yesterday — I am glad to hear Major [undecipherable: Fennie's?] business is so near complied and as I cannot possibly attend in time request you to fill up the certificates for him — as it will not be attended with any material disadvantage to the Office or to him — I had wrote to M^r Osgood relative to his business and referred him to you for every information which I was confident could be given equally as well as if I were present — the business relative to M^r Aust. I am also happy to hear is in a proper train and with that may be forwarded as also Major Eccleston's Receipt to M^r Pierce as soon as possible. you need not forward them to me as your certificate will be equally as good — when you write to M^r Pierce you will please to mention that my present situation induced you to appear in the business — the rest of the business will be postponed untill my arrival I hope it may not be long before I see you — I had forgot to mention that Major Eccleston's receipt will be found amongst Hopkins's or Clay's papers lodged with M^r Nourse. you will get M^r Nourse to certify to the facts. I think it the most eligible method — however you being on the Spot will be best able to judge what may be for the best — the business I beg may not be delayed — I beg you to write me every occurrence of the Office. I write often — if Davis has complated the Registers for the Loan Officers I wish they may be forwarded you can get them franked at the Board of Treasury — my letters may be copied by him untill he has business more material ——— I am Yours Sincerely J.
