Director Your letter of May 10 & 11. are received. I have written by this Post to the Board of Treasury in your favour, and to desired them to give you such an appointment as will not make matters [undecipherable] it [undecipherable] for you to have any [undecipherable] officer below very seldom as it is sometimes [undecipherable] how long [undecipherable] this branch the difficulties of you can foresee, and the [undecipherable] of [undecipherable] to let M'Swain go over, it would lead [undecipherable] say — think very considerably. The [undecipherable] papers must be arranged as they will be [undecipherable] to be resorted to in the old [undecipherable] order they [undecipherable] made, and I believe to please them in that order they were formerly so will be best. I perceive by your register that you have [undecipherable] as [undecipherable] to M'Claine, which I fear is improper, but I doubt whether he is entitled to pay [undecipherable] there will be a balance [undecipherable] of more or less of money amounts of 11 or 20,000 Dollars. D^r. Buck made [undecipherable] claim [undecipherable] pay for the year 1783, but am not certain it appears that he is not [undecipherable] I think that he is [undecipherable] on the first of that year, but he says M^r. Barrington knows that he was in [undecipherable] to [undecipherable] the end of the year. If M^r.
