Refers to account of P. Maning. Captain William Mackay, 11th Pennsylvania Regiment was shot through the body and taken prisoner at Brandywine, where the 10th and 11th Regiment were incorporated in 1778, he was appointed to 9th Pennsylvania Regiment; his wound required constant care of a surgeon in the country. Either by mistake or design he drew no pay. Mackay lives in York and is trying to get a settlement. Humpton hopes that when this business is done it will put final stop to correspondence on military matters.Is within two weeks of being a citizen near the banks of the Brandywine, where he hopes to live as people of yore on milk and honey.
