New York May 21. 1787 Dear Sir Having no franks I have taken the liberty to enclose to your care the continuation of the registers to the loan office of Virginia agreably to your request I have wrote to D^r Bronson, but fear from what I can learn that he will not be able to attend the frigate, as his bag has been twice left from you left this city, and at present is not able to make any use of it. y^rs &^a J Howell J^r John Pierce Esq^r Dear Sir New York May 22. 1787 Your letter of the 3 Instant came to hand the 19^th. I have examined every return transmitted by you to M^r Pierce, and do not find any note made on them by which I can ascertain the name of the sedan that was nursed by a M^rs Williams consequently, I cannot comply with your request in Issuing a Certificate for the amount of her account.
