Dear Sir New York May 17. 1787
Mr. Pierce has informed me that the Tryal of the person confined at Philadelphia for forging the Altered Certificates, is postponed untill July next— Mr. Pierce requested me to inform you of this circumstance, as your evidence is of much importance to the conviction of the person.— he hopes that nothing may prevent you from attending at the appointed time; I am sorry for the misfortune you have lately experienced; but flatter myself you will be able to comply with the wishes of Mr. Pierce
