I am Informed that there was some mistake in the settlement made by Capt Benj Durkee at your office in closing the accounts of Col John Durkee my late Husband now deceased, and that you have desired the Pay Table of this state not to Issue the State Notes ordered in my favour for the Seven Years half Pay, until the Mistake is Rectified I am in consequence of your request denied the Notes which the assembly granted, I therefore desire the favour of an explanation of the matter and if any Mistake has hapned which I ought to Rectify am willing it should be done but with a speady Close of the matter —
