For Philadelphia April 28. 1787.
Discoursing with Cap James Mclean Concerning the gratuity of the year 1779, which I am deficient in, he advised me to apply to your honor as the only person who could see me righted therein, or direct me where to apply for it, you will please to examine the Books and furnish me with such certificates as may be necessary for the recovery thereof. I formerly belonged to the 5t Pena Regt Cap James Moores Company Commanded by Colonel Johnson; and from thence transferred to the Invalid Regt the year 1777. if your honor will please to take notice of this poor epistle, and write to Philadelphia, you will please to direct to Mr Gavon Hamilton, Tobacconist in Second Street as he is a man of some note, and will be pleased to excuse this trouble from your Hum: Sert
