West Point 8 July 1787 [Swj] I have forwarded by the means M Denniston the returns of Ordnance and Quarter Master Stores, for the Month of January 1787 — Enclosed is an account of the Wood furnished the Garrison Which became payable the 5^th Instant, and I have drawn an Order upon you for the same in favour of Mr Denniston — There is also enclosed an account of what things I sold Mr Morrow to the Amount of [undecipherable] four pounds ten Shillings, Agreeable to your Letter of Decem^r 8 1786 — Mr Morrow is now Cleaning the 480 French Carbines as you directed, and will take his pay in the manner pro [undecipherable] by you — And if you think proper, he will take up What is due to him for four Months pay, for the months of June, July, August & September 1786 amounting to [strikethrough: Lay] twenty four pounds— I have drawn three Orders upon you for the mainteinence of [undecipherable] in favour of M Denniston, one is from January 29 to April 12^th, the Other is from April 13^th to July 5, 1786 Inclusive — which Accounts was Lodged in the War Office Last Fall, and are [undecipherable] — the Other is from September 25 to December 20 1786 Inclusive, and Will be delivered by Mr Denniston, for Mr Randal — As Mony is, such a disagreeable Object to take Care off, and I promised to pay them every quarter. I have been oblidged to borrow the money to pay the People, If it Can possibly be refunded I should be very Glad — I have Received a Box of Clothing that was left by this Sladge at the widow Warrens Containing 17 Hats, 17 Coats, [undecipherable] but as there was no letter left with them. I have not delivered them out, nor shall not till you inform me how they are to be issued — When the powder is aired and Shifted again it ought to be Sifted, and the dust Separated from the Corned, and I am informed that Mr Weiner has got a Set of powder Sieves that he will dispose off, but I do not know the price, If you think proper to have them purchased I will send and See what they will Come too, and let you know — Also, when the work does Commence we shall want a hundred or two of Casks, as a great many of the old ones are to be Rendered [undecipherable] till Made Over again into Smaller ones — and I Believe there is old Casks enough here to make them, except the hoops; which will not Cost much; if the Gen^l should think proper to have a Cooper hired to work them up — Agreeable to your Letter of July 8^th 1787, I have drawn
