Dear Sir
Your favor of the 21 December last is duly received. I am now ready to deliver the certificate for the balance of pay and Gratuity due to Pierce Manning amounting to 90 6/90 dollars as soon as an Order from him is forwarded for that purpose — the Certificates for his pay for the years 1780, 1781 & 1782 have been given to the Agents of the line which if he has not received may still be with Mr Nicholson. Their Numbers and Sums are 63078 fn 33 20/90 dollars 63893 for 76 dollars & 69083 for 20 dollars enclosed you will receive Manning's discharge — when you write please inform me in what manner the Certificate is to be sent and put your letter under cover to John Pierce Esq: P.M.G.
