My Worthy Friend

[indecipherable] long friendship that has subsisted between us leads me to humbles you at this time tho men especially as I expect it will come immediately on your department as auditor of the publick Accts what I woud wish you to humble yourself with is with regard to my accounts with the publick in recruiting my company and in settling my Deficiency of wages which was paid up to me that the 1st of August 1778 I resigned my commission in April 1780 the most of my papers was taken from me by the British at the Battle of Brandewine but my Master Rolls I expect can be found in the Publick Office and as their must be a very considerable Ballance in my favor I would take it as a very particular obligation in you to trouble yourself in my favour and should it ever lay in my way I will amply repay the obligation Your answer to this with instructions how I shall proceed will much oblige.
