I view him as a mad man and myself as Acting in an Official Capacity under the immediate direction of Congress & no way (when approved by that body) answerable to any individual for my conduct I shall not therefore notice his threats, but should he Attempt a Personal indignity, I shall endeavor to conduct myself in such a manner as to secure not only my own Approbation but that of my friends.
