New York November 11th 1786
Dear Sir.
Your letter of the 4th instant to Mr Pierce and the one of the 5th to me were duly received, apprehending you have not received my letter of the 18th Ultime I take the liberty to enclose a duplicate as also an Extract of my letter of the same date to Mr Nicholson on the subject of your Claims. You will please to wait on Mr Nicholson who will shew you the pay Roll alluded to in my letters which I presume will fully satisfy you that Colonel D Haas was accountable to his Officers for the balance of pay & due them and their Men and that the United States are entirely exonerated from any and all demands which the Regiment under his command might have had against them — I am &c.
