office of Army Accounts New York Novem 13’ 1786 Dear Sir / Your favor of the 7’ Inst did not reach me [undecipherable] office I find that James Armstrong was a Colonel in the North Carolina Line and received the Certificate (no 89362) you make meant of from Mr. Ebenezer Jackson Asst. Commiss for that State is being a part of his commutation - Capt. Armstrong of Lee’s Legion was settled with for his commutation at Philada and recd three certificates No. 67.438 . 39 & 67440 of one thousand dollar each then certificates were end endorsed by me or was generally the care of individual settlements when they were of the Quota of Pennsa I wish you may soon be enabled to give me the information requested in usual of my letter you which remains unanswered and is much wanted.
