Dear Sir
Your last of [strikethrough: the 18th] together with one from General Gist have been received by me, and are all enclos'd to their contents — You were mistaken in entering the charges against the head of 378 Dolts as received of Mr Stokely — it was sent here by me on the 5th of October & is entered in Mr Reid's account against Cleveland & amount for the last claim unless I have been [undecipherable] — there is however an inexplicable difficulty in the said Gales accounts, which you and Mr Harnation may perhaps be able to remove — for this purpose I have also enclosed you copies of all the settlements made by them with you, being No 2 Gales account as on file, No 4 Gales account as on file — No 5 Gales account as entered in your Books No 4 — Gales title — and No 4 his against charges against Gale as entered in my Books No 2 [undecipherable] — No 2 may be a fair account if there was not, would not by me as far as my information [undecipherable] — Tho' I am sufficiently certain that Gale credits more than he is charged by the Remounted Date which I suppose is a part of the [undecipherable] a balance, certainly that but would receive only 628 Dolts — the difference I am unable to account for & thereby that the General credits a wrong sum of money received from Genl Lincoln, notwithstanding the 378/12 Dols allowed
