Massachussetts supplied and them delivered to the line in 1781. Connecticut was directly supplies to the Officers and the Soldiers families that of S^o Carolina & South Carolina arose from Stoppages made from the Lines in Consequence of improper Settlements. and the Credit to Maryland which may be in some measure inaccurate as on both from an advance on Account and also from Stoppages made for Errors in the depreciation Settlm^t. It is possible for me to find by the Musters of the Army and the Accounts in my Office. the amount which each State had a right to pay to its Line. both for depreciation and pay in the years 1780 & 1781. by which the relative payments of the States on this Article of their Charges may be clearly known. but it will be a work of much time trouble and may not be worth the expence.
