Dear Joe—
I request you to examine Capt James Waugh's account I got settled with you in July last. if you have charged him with the Monies he received at different times from the Regimental Pay Master — his years supernumerary pay to the amount of four hundred & eighty dollars Please to send me by Yr safe hands a Certificate for the same as the Comptroller Genl has insisted that sum on supposition that you did not Charge him with the above sum — I am with due respect &c.
