New York September 22^d 1786 Sir I have received your favor, enclosing, and requesting an account of subsistence due to your Brother. It is not [undecipherable] altogether [undecipherable] when paid when it is done this subsistence with that of the line and the whole due to the Southern Army must be considered [undecipherable: adjusted], and paid off at once. There is however some difficulty in the accounts of subsistence, as we have not sufficient information to form any opinion respecting them; this properly independent of the Office at [undecipherable] but the principal obstruction is the total want of fact in the continental funds, and which impedes every [undecipherable] motion made to do the late Army justice.
