New York Sept 10^th 1791 [Docket: Brig Gen Patterson / Respd] Dr Sir Your accounts are finally adjusted as I now inclose you — I have allowed in respect to the pay [undecipherable] Arms & Recruiting a copy voucher you produced — I found that you had delivered clothing to the amount of 1368 ⁶⁹/90 Dols to sundry Officers, as charged in your Receipt Book; which I have also allowed you, altho no receipt for this clothing has been produced. The money you lost at Ticonderoga I have allowed — and also the warrant for December pay which was not drawn — there was a mistake made by the Commander in Chief in drawing that warrant, as the amount of the abstract in lawful money was less than he made it in Dols by about 800 Dols — on the other part the account you will find yourself charged with the amount of Gen Mifflin's and credited the amount you have paid him — the balance of your account appears to have arisen when old money [undecipherable] but as you may have kept it in your hands I have reduced it at 2½ for one & carried the amount to the debit of your specie accounts If you agree to this settlement I can attest to the truth of it, that it is no way to the injury of the publick, Permit you to do it on the back of the account & inclose the same to me, when I shall be ready to give you your certificates.
