I have received your Letter of the 29. Ulto your Claim for pay is now totally barred from Coming before me it not having reached me before the 5 Instant and my directions are very pointed not to deviate from the resolution precluding claims produced after the first of the Month.
The Surgeon Mates are not entitled to the Commutation.

Your Letter of the 18 Ulto came to hand the 5th Instant &that of the 9. instant came to hand the 14th in which you prefer a Claim in behalf of your late Brother Cap Barnes Eichelberger. as the Act of Congress limiting Claims on my Office took place the first day of this month, any Claims which your late Brother Otherwise might have had are debarred from being admitted.
