I have received your Letter of the 15 Inst and respecting a demand from John Freeland for pay wd did not belong to the Jersey line, it is impossible for me to inform You whether the same has been drawn or not, unless you can find the Regiment he belonged to for a research thro' the whole Papers of this Office would be attended with more expence of time than his pay is worth and some of the lineal accts are not yet come into my hands
The first day of this month closed the Acceptances of Claims, arising from the Army, for this Cause Freeland will be debarred from his, unless the same shall be found to be drawn by some Regimental Agent
