In Settlement of an account between the United States and Luke Broadhead Captain in the late Co Pennsylvania Regt their appears a balance due by the said Capt Broadhead in the sum of [undecipherable] dollars specie — This sum you will please to charge to his account of depreciation as a deranged Officer in 1779 and transmit Mr Sims a certificate of the same that his account may be closed in the books of this Office —

Your letter covering the Vouchers for money received for Rations for the 3d Augt was duly received and has enabled me to make a final settlement of your account — Inclosed you will receive a Warrant for the final balance of your account No [undecipherable] on the State of New York this day for two hundred and eighty five [undecipherable] dollars bearing Interest from the [undecipherable] of March 1783 and countersigned by me agreeably to your desire — I have put this under cover to Major John Harper who I make no doubt will forward it to you from Yr Hble Servt
