New York 1 August 1786 Sir, On examination of the rolls of the late 3^rd Penn^a I find Francis Farren is included for his pay to the 1 October 1778 — from which time he is left out, and no reason assigned, the musters of that Regiment for September being with you they may present you with the inform- ation necessary — The rolls of the late 12 Reg. from time of Enlistment are not at present in my possession therefore cannot inform you the time of Farren's entering the service — he is on the pay rolls for May 1777. I wish your attention to mine of the 10 July, relative to the musters of the 8^th Reg. — being much in want of them — I am & J. Howell J^no Nicholson
