Gentlemen
I arrived here this Morning before Jean having left New York on Saturday afternoon. The Board may remember that the Man who is now in Goal has said that a Major Morris who Acted as Agent to N Hampshire line could Clear up his Character and he expected him soon to do it. Inclosed is the Copy of a deposition of Judge Sullivan, who suspects the Major as being the Person who Counterfeited the Certificates. I am therefore induced to Persue my Journey to Morrow Morning on to N Hampshire instead of returning to N York which Imeditated to do it by setting out in to Morrow stage. The Varrous depositions taken here amounts to but little more than to prove that Barnes is a Villain and ought to be taken up. Mr Lovitt in Goal can inform where is it to be found. I shall obtain a direct deposition that Barnes sold these Certificates as good and send it on. If possible by this post I have taken up the Man who is to give it and he never on tryal. Phelon has been gone some where fourteen days his Landlady where he lodged which was 8 Miles from this Supposes that he is gone to Providence or New York and from thence to N York. I have sent after him with proper directions to send him on, and now inclose the depositions on which the first Justice's warrant is founded, that in Case he should get to N York before the Warrant he may be Apprehended in the mean time. I shall on to Paternosk, I have taken the Liberty to write to the Board for the reason that I conclude Judge Morris is from town on the Circuit — I conclude Judge Morris is from
