Receipt of certificates
Document 1786Acknowledges receipt of two Certificates. The acknowledgment would have been sent more promptly had the bearer been available sooner.
Philadelphia July 1, 1786 Dear Sir, I acknowledge the receipts of your Letter dated 8th May last inclosing two final settlement certificates, one in favor of myself, No. 93,935 for One hundred Eighty two 54/90 dolls. the other in favor of Lt. Percival Butler No. 93,936 for Two hundred Dollars. I should have written you much sooner, only waiting for Mr. Bettead as a bearer, whose situation of affairs were such as rendered it impossible for him to go sooner. I know you will do everything in your power to oblige him. Yours J Wigton Jos.h Howell Esquire
