I am much Obliged to you for the information Communicated in your Letter of the 23.d which came to hand this Morning__ it is out of my Power untill I have the [aligned right] direction

direction of Congress to Comply with your Wishes. I must therefore take every Consequence that may follow. I am sensible that a Newspaper Controversy must be disagreeable but neither this Consideration nor the Malevolence. the insuety or the threats of any one shall deter me from my duty__

I humbly presumes that this Application was not improper and that by it I have not [strikethrough: violated the rights of Mr Sullivan] he has however undertaken to Arraign the propriety of this proceeding and to Call on me in a Very imperious manner for his Settlement. I therefore take the Liberty again to request the Attention of your Excellency & Congress to his Claims and to Inclose Copies of the Correspondence which has passed on the Subject of them.

Inclosed is a Particular Accot. of the Persons to whom I paid the New Emission money received by me from Peter Boyer for the German Regiments taken from my Vouchers. I suppose it unnecessary that you have the Vouchers unless to prosecute any Person who has forged orders on me for it.
