Dr. Sir,

In the return you were good enough to enclose me of the Officers of the 8th. Regt. deranged I find not Cap. John Hughes — the man now a member of Assembly, through his own Affidavit, and the Certificates of some other Officers of the regiment, has obtained the depreciation from me — I had before I received yours got a hint of the mans character &c — Will you be so kind as to serch the musters from June 1778 until the time of the derangement (I suppose they are in Bankson’s accounts) and see & certify if mustered resigned and when —
