Sir,
Agreeable to your recommendation when I had the pleasure of seeing you last in this City with respect to the stoppage of Three hundred dollars in my final settlement by Col. Walter Stewart I have enclosed his receipt for the payment of the whole sum you will by the receipt see that I was wrongfully charged with the money & I hope you will send a Certificate for the amount
This I send by the Stage & will be happy to hear from you by its return on monday next I have no business to detain me here except the subject of this Letter & hope you will be so compliasant as to expedite the business & forward it by next stage on monday I have also enclosed an account of Andrew Finley’s Ensign in the regiment commanded by Col. Eneas McKay, which You will please to adjust and transmit be next Monday’s Stage as I cannot possibly tarry here longer than Tuesday next I hope you will oblige me in my request
