I have examined and you the contents of your letter of the 22 Ulto. I am of opinion that it is necessary for you personally to report in this to the Secretary at War or [strikethrough: to get a for] the confirmation of your rank and appointments in the Service, before I can be justified in making additional payment of your account.
The commission you enclose was originally within which was a stitched this second year for which it was raised — and your not being continued in another regiment and your acceptance of the another appointment, most probably will be construed as a supersedeas of this Commission.
