Respected Friend, James Cottringer informs me by the Post of your being in Philadelphia and by his letter I find you have not yet received the Packet I sent you upwards of two weeks ago inclosed to Captain Richard Fullerton, in which I sent every thing necessary agreeable to your directions to me by Captain Campbell — I was informed it was sent up to New York, if so I beg you will write for it by the Post if you continue any time in town — as the Stage runs every day it will immediately come to your hands, with which I beg you will do the needful and lay another obligation on your already obliged friend John Doyle Cap^t Howell. Sir, On searching for a James Donley who served in the 4^th Reg^t of Artillery as a Seven months man I laid my hands on the Muster rolls for the months of Aug Sep & October taken in November 1780 and on examining the returns of the Seven months men formerly transmitted you with those Musters I find that the persons mentioned in the inclosed returns were omitted — Your &^c J.
