[Copied] May 6^th 1786 Mons^r Otto Sir I Do myself the Honor to enclose you a statement of the account of Major Bequitaine as settled between him and the United States. The certificate for the ballance due to him on his last settlement amounting to one thousand two hundred Dollars was delivered by me to Col. [undecipherable] who I suppose carried it with him to France. The certificate is not placed on the same footing with the other French Gentlemen, that is, to draws on Interest payable in France, [strikethrough: because that has not been shown] as it is essential that in order that this be done, that the certificate itself, on should be produced at the Treasury. The other ballance, of 4,104 ⁹/₉₀ Dols which was found due [strikethrough: him] on his last settlement; [strikethrough: has been paid to Good] together with the sum of 88 ²⁶/₉₀ dols for Interest was paid into the hands of M^r Richard Peters, in Cash 933 ⁹⁰/₉₀ Dols and in a certificate bearing Interest payable in France 3 208 ³⁹/₉₀ Dollars, [strikethrough: making] being the amount of the whole demand of Mayor Baquetaine against the United States.
