Philadelphia April 19th 1796
On a Letter from Samuel Hodgdon Esquire Commissary of Military — Stating, that on the twenty third of September 1792 he delivered on the order of William Maclay Esquire for the use of this State, forty riffle Muskets, which were deposited and still remain on the bank of the Susquehanna river — that these Arms are now wanted by the United States, and that he has it in command from the Secretary at War to request that an order may issue for the same — Therefore Resolved — That Wm John Hanis, or such other person as may have the aforesaid Arms in keeping, in the State, do deliver them to Mr Samuel Hodgdon, or order, taking only an acknowledgement of their delivery — Extract from the minutes —
