Philadelphia 7th April 1786.

Dear Sir,

I have just received a letter directed to John Parragh, left by himself for my perusal by which I cannot come at the ballance of 200 dollars witheld from me and on which subject I have already written to you as I find form Charley’s Letter. — I have enclosed an account against the United States for Two hundred dollars — What I am in debt to the States, or to our own particular State I know not, but that it must be a mere trifle & therefore be kind enough to examine the accounts against me & (as I desired in a former Letter) deliver a Certificate for the residue to Charles Darragh whose receipt shall be sufficient — I am Sir Your Humle. Servt. Heny. D Pursell

Jos. Howell Esqr.

P. S. For fear of a mistake I have drawn two accounts, be kind enough to make use of which you please and destroy the other — if neither is proper I request you would draw one that will answer the purpose —

H. D. P.
