War Office March 28th 1786

Sir: The determination of Congress yesterday on the case of Major Wyllys renders it necessary that you should immediately repair to Fort McIntosh to take upon you the command of the troops on the Ohio until lieutenant colonel Harmar shall arrive there.

You will therefore please to prepare yourself to commence your journey as soon as possible.

I shall communicate with you on the subject of the troops previous to your departure and give you the instructions which may be necessary in writing.
