Sir,

I take the liberty to address you by reason of the present situation of an administration I have taken out of the Office in this City, on the decease Estate of my deceas’d step Brother, who unfortunately died in the service of his Country — having applied at the Comptroller General’s here, was advised to make application to the Office at New York, but the situation of my business at this season of the year renders it impractable for me to leave my Farm — I shall therefore esteem it a particular favor if you will please to give the requisite remarks to Mr. Thomas Flowers the bearer of this Letter — I have annexed send you what particulars I have collected of his situation while in the Army — your kind compliance shall be gratefully acknowledged by

McKinleys Compy. 12th. regiment in the latter end of 1776 — Transfer’d to the Invilids after the Battle of Monmouth, & died at Trenton the beginning of 1781 or the latter end of 1780 having first join’d Major Boyle’s Compy. 3d Reg. at Jockey Holley in the spring of 1780 —
