New York March 14^th 1786 Dear Sir James Lovell [undecipherable] has informed me that his son had a certificate of mine in his possession N° 915 dated State of New York November 12 1783 in favor of Archibald Graham [undecipherable] 29 1783, which I am convinced is one of the [undecipherable] which was in your possession and which I was led you to make inquiry about— the same number was issued by me to Simeon Lord dated [undecipherable] 18 1783 and for forty Dollars As I have already requested you to have the hand, that which [undecipherable] forged certificates have circulated and as you may not have met with success from the circumstance that they were so small the difficulty was too great to obtain a sufficient notoriety I [undecipherable] now [undecipherable] inform you of these hoping that a scrutiny in the instance may be made to conviction.
