I have Sent by Mr Timothy Holchum the Returns of Ordnance and Quarter Masters Stores for the month of July 1785 —
I have given Mr James Marson an the Certificate for Cluning Nine hundred Stands of Arms, which makes one thousand he has done —
As there is no Workmen about the place that can Value the frame Buildings, nor any Accurate Included, I have noted the places where the Buildings Stand, that I find by the Dimensions of Shortfade, and Mr Haughton his Lines in New York formerly of Capt Atkins Company of Artificers Can do It Better than any About here, he Leaves at the upper end of William Street.
If not inconsistent with your Arrangements I wish that an Officer might be Sent here to take Charge of the Men

Agreeable to Contract made with Mr James Marson I Certifye that the Said James Marson has Cleaned Nine Hundred Stands of Arms for the North State at Eighteen, Ninety Sixths of a Dollars Each, and is Entitled to Receive Thirty Seven pounds Ten Shillings for the Same at the War Office in New York ten days after this Certificate is Presented — which makes up the number of fifteen hundred he has Cleaned.
