Inclosed is a Letter from Mr. Amos Taylor of this City with some Certificates of Lieut. Weaver late of the 3d. Penna. Reg. deceased he was taken prisoner at Fort Washington Novr. 16th. 1776 & exchanged in May 1778 there is an account which he got settled some time (17)
before his death, which by the hand writing I think was done in your Office the allowance made for travelling expences from New York to Philadelphia I observe is omitted in it as Mr. Taylor has not the honor of a being acquainted with you, he beg’d me to recommend the business to you, it is really an act of Charity Weaver’s Sister, a very poor orphan girl is come to town for the purpose of administering on her brother’s effects, which all consists in this acct. Our Comptrolr. Genl. Nicholson directed us to apply to you for your settlement, which being forwarded to him he would settle his depreciation &c if when done you will please to send to Mr Taylor or me we will do the needful your dispatch of this business will entitle you to the prayers of this poor orphan girl, and add to the many obligations already confer’d upon.
