New York January 24. 1786 Dear Sir Your letter of the 9^th & 11^th arrived here yesterday. I informed M^r [undecipherable] the depreciation & the [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable] and [Officers?] [improperly?] not being taken [undecipherable] by me, the reason that M^r [undecipherable] now who [received?] [the] certificates had not accounts for his [figures?] — and desire [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable: Jackson] to direct M^r [undecipherable] in ascertaining these accounts — that they be forwarded to me with the Vouchers, on which I would adjust them and issue a certificate in favor the State for their amount — which as expressly [undecipherable line, partially obscured] I presume before this time have been issued so far the Papers were forwarded to me — on the receipt of the I should suppose that the original returns had been be transmitted me, but shall not be scrupulous on that head — I shall however want an order for delivering the certificates in favor of the State.
