Sir,
Captain Thomas Campbell Exector to the estate of [undecipherable]
H Campbell late a Lieut in the 6 Regiment deceased, has presented an
account of the Sd [undecipherable] for recruiting money arear in the
year 1779, but for want of sufficient vouchers I am not able
to allow it — Cap. Campbell informs me that you cannot grant the
depreciation and supernumery pay of the Sd Lieut. Campbell
until his account is settled with the United State — on [undecipherable]
with Col Becker, who has communicated the [undecipherable], [undecipherable] that
Lieut Campbell did not receive any voucher from him, but it
appears that some was received of [undecipherable] Loughby — [undecipherable] this
Captain of the Company to whom Col. Becker [undecipherable] the money
for recruiting, and as Lieut Campbell's account of [undecipherable] recruiting
amounts to as much as was paid to Cap Loughby [undecipherable] Col Becker —
I have with the approbation of all New [undecipherable], to inform you
that I think the United States will be secured, and that you may [undecipherable]
as if the Estate was exonerated from the charge.
