New York December 14, 1785 Dear Sir, Your letter to M^r Dean relative to giving your office I have forwarded to him in Connecticut where at this time he is on a visit to his friends — The contents go on rapidly with the register, and I much fear that the book will be obliges for want of your attention, you earnestly entreat you to forward them on immediately, either by post, or such other conveyance as you may think proper — as a calculation I find that your register will be wanted in twenty four days from this — the time is short, and the necessity of having them at the expiration of this time is great. Please therefore, you will exert your good talents on this occasion. J^o: Tennant Esq^r Jos Hewett --- Dear Sir, Philadelphia Dec 15, 1785 Just on the comp to leave this city, I have only time to acknowledge the receipt of your last favor, and to inform you that as the book will not come in office April, there will be full time sufficient the missing. I have however wrote hurrily on post to Lennella M^r Prince with is soon completed to transmit you the Papers to diligen. M^r Tennant who will repay on my account any expense attending the buisness.
